Red Hot Chili Peppers

I hope my son has finally learned that when you mess with the bull you get the horns. Kieran loves to push our buttons, as I'm sure any 3 year old does.

My next door neighbor Robin gave us some hot peppers from her back yard garden yesterday. I put them on the kitchen counter and told Kieran not to touch them because they're hot. I guess to a 3 year old the term "hot" is confusing. I'm sure when he picked them up he felt that they were not hot. 'What does she mean, it's hot? It sure feels cold to me!'

This afternoon he pulls a chair up to the kitchen counter to get one of these peppers. He loves green peppers. This is a pepper. It is also green. He tells me he wants to eat it and I tried to explain to him that it's hot and it will hurt his mouth. I get that look he gives me when he wants to challenge us. He grabs the pepper and runs away and jumps on the couch. I warned him over and over again and he refused to give the pepper back. He went into a dramatic tantrum so I let him learn for himself. Ouch. Needless to say he got a nice tall glass of milk.
