Hot Days are Here!

Excuse the tank...I'm trying to rid myself of the farmer's tan.
What a busy but productive day we had yesterday. Yesterday we got a lot done around the house. We finally got an attic fan to help draw the hot air out of the attic. The upstairs can be absolutely sweltering in the summertime and my mom suggested last year that we get an attic fan. We were going to get a regular one but we'd have to find an electrician and then have to deal with the electric bill every month because I'm sure it would be running non-stop. Tripp's sister Becky suggested a solar one. I had no idea they made those. We found a great one but Tripp had to get up on the roof and install it himself. That made me a little nervous because I personally don't like heights. It took most of the day but it's in and we already feel a great difference upstairs. Great job, Daddy!

Next we hit Airbase Carpet Mart to replace the absolutely disgusting area rugs in the family and living rooms. We had been holding out because the kids make such a mess but the last straw was not being able to get the spilled milk smell out. That was it. So we decided to hit Airbase Carpet Mart and pick up a few remnants. They bind them so they look just like regular area rugs at half the cost. Basically we were looking for disposable carpet. Something that we'll try to keep clean but won't have to worry about if we have to toss it. Just in time for them to close, we picked up 2 carpets and padding. After loading them in the car we decided to try out Arner's Restaurant across the street. It is owned by a customer of Tripp's so we'd been meaning to go for years. It's sort of like a diner so it was never our first choice when deciding where to eat. The kids did ok. Thank goodness we had such a great waitress. Kieran normally is very good when we're out to dinner but he was antsy. Jenna didn't want to sit in her high chair so she sat on my lap the whole time. Of course I wore a white shirt and left with her dinner all over me.

After the kids went to bed the old carpeting was removed, the hardwood floors scoured and the new carpeting was put in. It took us a while to move the furniture but we got it done in somewhat record time. We were exhausted so we watched a little TV and hit the hay. It was quite a productive day. Above are some pics of the kids and I after our long day. Oh, and that's not dirt that's mascara on Kieran. He managed to get into my purse.

Oh, and I got nails yesterday.LOL. Yes, nails. I have always been a nail biter. I can't help it. I've been trying so hard to stop recently because Jenna is such a copy cat. She imitates everything I do. She's picked up on the nail biting thing which I unconsiously do. I want to set a good example for her so she won't start so I tried to stop but discovered that when I drive, and I drive a lot, I do it and don't even realize it. SO the only thing that has ever stopped me from biting was getting fake nails. So off to the salon I went. I made sure to get them pretty short. I garden a lot so I needed them as short as they can get. They look ok I guess and they're taking a while to get used to. Not a big fan of the fake nail look but I really needed to do something. I was desperate!

I could definitely take some makeup tips from Kieran! Isn't it great to have a productive day?! So often it seems that we run all day and do so much, but at the end of the day, not much has been accomplished! So, kudos to you guys!
