Delaware City Day

Today is one of Delaware City's biggest celebrations. The day starts off with a parade. Kieran had his bucket all ready to collect the candy that is thrown to the parade goers. Unfortunately everyone woke up with colds this morning so we spent most of the time wiping little noses.

3 of the Mummers string bands were in the parade too. Quaker City, the Irish American String Band and I'm not sure of the third one. It's so neat to watch them in person. My personal favorite of the parade are the Bagpipers.

The rest of the day was pretty boring. There is usually a lot going on in town during the day. In years past there were a decent amount of small rides and things for the kids to do. I don't know what happened this year but we walked through town and back in a matter of 20 minutes. The rides were non-exsistent this year. There were a few bouncy things but that was it.

Afterwards we normally hit a party at the Keifer's. With the kids and I being sick and Tripp on the verge we missed out on the party. Tripp and I could hardly keep our eyes open, Kieran zonked out at 5 pm.

As I write this I'm missing out on the fireworks outside. Between the mosquitos and the fact that I'm absolutely exhausted I'm not really sad I'm missing them. Just crossing my fingers that the kids stay asleep! So far so good.
